Organic Food Recall

The FDA announced a voluntary recall of multiple products from the commonly found organic food company, Amy’s Kitchen. The manufacturer has found that some spinach they had used in the production of various foods may contain Listeria, which can make any of us ill, and in particular can be problematic in pregnancy.

I have seen these products for sale in Whole Foods as well as elsewhere. Fortunately, no one has reported an illness attributable to ingestion of Amy’s Kitchen products to date; the recall has been issued “out of an abundance of caution.”

If you have recently purchased any of their products, open this link to determine if the product and lot number are one of those in question: http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm439397.htm

If you have any of the products identified in the chart you should dispose of them or return them to the store where they were purchased for an exchange or full refund. Consumers may also call Amy’s at (707) 781-7535 [Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Pacific)].
